3 Bad Habits to Ditch Right Now
For many people, their biggest obstacle is themselves. But it doesn’t have to be that way. One of the easiest ways that you can improve your mood, energy levels, and outlook on life is to stop a few of these bad habits in their tracks.
Worrying Too Much
While some worrying is normal, worrying so much that you’re anxious and stressed all the time is not. It’s one of those bad habits that many of us indulge in without realising it. But too much stress can have a negative effect on your health, leading to chronic conditions like heart disease, a suppressed immune system, or insomnia.
Try to let go of worrying about everything all of the time, especially those things that you cannot control. Take a moment to breathe, be present, and ask yourself if there’s any logical basis to your worry.
Sometimes when things are going badly, it can feel really great to complain – and there’s nothing wrong with a little bit of venting now and then. The problem is that you’re not actually fixing anything when you complain. You’re training your brain to look only for the negative things around you.
Next time you catch yourself complaining, try to redirect your attention to something positive about the situation, or think about a way that you can fix the problem.
Always Being a Perfectionist
While there are times that perfection matters, most of the time it doesn’t. Not everything is going to be perfect all of the time, and so spending all of your time and energy on perfection is just going to be draining and add to your stress levels.
Try not to let yourself become obsessed with perfection. Rather, pick a few things that you need to be perfect, and learn to be okay with everything else being not quite as perfect as you would like.
