Chelsea Suffer Injury Blow Ahead of Europa Final
Chelsea player, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, has suffered a potentially season-ending injury during a charity friendly match against New England Revolution on Thursday, 16 May, in America.
The midfielder came on as a half-time substitute, but within 20 minutes of his introduction, he fell awkwardly and appeared to have twisted his foot.
The 23-year-old is now likely to miss Chelsea’s Europa League final on 29 May against Arsenal after limping off the field and needing to be helped back to the dressing room by two of the medical staff.
Loftus-Cheek left the Gillette stadium on crutches and wearing a protective boot on his left foot.
The Englishman played a vital role in helping Chelsea reach the Europa League final and was due to be named in England’s squad for the UEFA Nations League.
Despite speculation from teammates that Loftus-Cheek’s injury may rule him out for the rest of the season, the country and club are awaiting the results of further medical tests and scans.
