EPL Transfer Deadline Day Updates

August 08, 2019

The English Premier League (EPL) transfer window closes today, and it has been a busy day in England with teams still scrambling to sign players in order to bolster their squads for the upcoming season.

While the clock is ticking, however, certain teams have already struck deals while some are still busy with negotiations. Let’s have a look at what’s happening today in EPL’s top flight transfers:

Manchester United and Inter Milan have reached a £74m agreement for Romelu Lukaku, and the striker is already in Milan to complete the medicals for the Serie A side.

Unfortunately, Tottenham’s move for Juventus’s forward, Paulo Dybala, is likely to break down due to image rights issues – Dybala’s are owned by a third party – unless they sign him on a loan deal.

Arsenal have reached an agreement with Chelsea to sign centre-back, David Luiz, for £8 million. The 32-year-old Brazilian international is expected to sign a two-year contract today.

Liverpool have been unsurprisingly quiet in this window, with Jurgen Klopp claiming to be happy with his squad.

Chelsea owe their silence to a two window transfer ban from FIFA for signing foreign under-18 players.

There is still much to expect today with Arsenal set to announce another new arrival and Everton ready to break the bank for the signature of Crystal Palace’s forward, Wilfried Zaha.
