Naya Rivera: Lawsuit Filed in Son’s Name

The ex-husband of Naya Rivera is seeking damages on behalf of their child in a lawsuit against both the recreational company and US county implicated in the actress’ death.

In July, Rivera – who rose to fame on the 2009 television show, “Glee” – drowned at Lake Piru in Ventura, California while enjoying an afternoon of boating and swimming with her four-year-old son, Josey Dorsey.

On Tuesday, 17 November, Ryan Dorsey – along with his late ex-wife’s estate and business manager – filed a wrongful death lawsuit in their son’s name at a local court against Ventura County.

The lawsuit also targets the United Water Conservation District and Parks and Recreation Management, whose “boat [that] Rivera rented had not been equipped with floatation or life-saving devices, or a ladder, rope, anchor or other [safety] equipment.”

Additionally, it claims that the former couple’s son “has suffered substantial economic and non-economic damages”, as well as “emotional distress” because of his mother’s death.

The plaintiffs are currently seeking a jury trial against the company and county.
