Solskjaer Set to Offer Pogba Captaincy
Manchester United boss, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, is reportedly set to hand Paul Pogba the role of captain, in a bid to keep the star midfielder at the club amid interest from Real Madrid.
In March, the 26-year-old Frenchman revealed at a pre-match press conference that playing for Real Madrid under returning manager, Zinedine Zidane, would be “a dream for anybody who likes football”.
After the Red Devils finished sixth in the Premier League, Solskjaer has already begun making plans to revamp the club next season.
These plans allegedly include handing the role of captain to Pogba, in order to convince the midfielder to stay at Old Trafford rather than move to Los Blancos.
Wing-back Antonio Valencia, who currently serves as the captain of United, is leaving the club this summer after his contract was not extended.
Although right-back Ashley Young is currently in line to take over as skipper, it is highly possible that Solskjaer could choose to give this role to Pogba instead, who was stripped of temporary captaincy duties under Jose Mourinho’s previous management.
