Suarez to Miss Brazil & Barca Clashes After Positive COVID-19 Test
Atletico Madrid and Uruguayan forward, Luis Suarez, has tested positive for Covid-19 while on international duty.
The Uruguayan Football Association took to social media to announce that Suarez, Rodrigo Munoz and Matias Faral have all tested positive for COVID-19 and therefore will miss Uruguay’s Euro 2020 qualifying match against Brazil on Tuesday, 17 November 2020.
Despite being Barcelona’s third all-time top scorer with 198 goals, the 33-year-old striker experienced a painful Camp Nou exit in September.
Joining Atletico Madrid seems to have given him back his confidence and eased the pain he felt when leaving the Catalan club.
The Uruguayan is currently Atletico’s joint-top scorer this season alongside Joao Felix, with five goals since his arrival.
Suarez is also going to miss his club’s La Liga match against his former team, Barcelona, on Saturday, 21 November – a reunion showdown many football fans would have wanted to witness.
The Uruguayan FA have confirmed that the Atletico Madrid forward is in good health and adhering to self-isolation guidelines.
