October 30, 2018

MTN Nigeria and English football club Arsenal are on the hunt to find and nurture Nigeria’s best footballing talents.

The cellular service provider and Premier League club held a three-day training programme for 128 youths and 30 coaches over the weekend of 26-28 October at the National Stadium in Surulere, Lagos.

The partnership event provided the attendees with the required technical support, skill set and knowledge to compete professionally in global football arenas.

Coaches were empowered to identify and build up promising teams filled with gifted players.

MTN’s General Manager of Brands and Communication, Richard Iweanoge, said: “Like all Nigerians, our love for the beautiful game continues to grow with every new season. We are passionate about developing the game in Nigeria, which is why we are pleased to work with Arsenal to make this happen.”

The coaching clinic featured both high-tech theoretical and practical sessions facilitated by Arsenal Soccer School coaches. Former Arsenal superstar, Lauren, who was a member of the famous “Invincibles” team that won the English Premier League title in 2004, was part of the training sessions.
