Arrows Coach Reflects on Disappointing 1-0 Loss

Golden Arrows manager Pitso Dladla is in a maudlin mood in the wake of his team’s 1-0 loss to Milford FC on Saturday, 17 October.

The Arrows were in Premier Soccer League (PSL) action against the fast-rising club at Princess Magogo Stadium in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal.

Despite the strong display of defence from Dladla’s men in the first half, they also failed to get any scoring shots in. Ultimately, Milford’s Siphosethu Ndlabi pulled off a superb strike in the 71st minute, allowing the Stallions to walk away with the victory.

The result allowed Milford to jump to fourth place with 15 points on the PSL table, while Golden Arrows are lingering in eighth place with eight points.

In a post-match interview, Dladla admitted that his team did not perform up to par.

“We were playing on our front foot, but it has been our downfall when the team is down, when we are dominating, but we’ve not been scoring at the same time,” he remarked.

The 48-year-old tactician added that the Arrows emphasised the importance of addressing the team’s mental aspects: “Sometimes it’s calmness, composure in the box and the conviction in the box that you are able to score. So, we should work more on them psychologically more than anything.”
