Arteta Hails Madueke After 1-0 Win
Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta has nothing but praise for winger Noni Madueke, who scored a late winner for the Gunners in their match against Nottingham Forest on Sunday, 18 October.
The two sides went head-to-head at the City Ground in Nottinghamshire, England. The first half saw no goals and, for a time, the pattern continued into the second half.
Fortunately, Madueke – who was introduced as a substitute at half-time in place of Eberechi Eze – struck in the 80th minute with a decisive strike to the back of the net. This allowed Arsenal to walk away with a 1-0 victory.
In a post-match press conference, Arteta was complimentary about the 24-year-old winger.
“Noni puts a smile on my face, because he’s a special character,” the Spanish tactician remarked. “Very much loved in and around the dressing room. … After the break, he’s shown … another level of anger and conviction in his actions, and he’s becoming now decisive in matches, which is what we expect from our players.”
Arsenal currently occupy second place in the English Premier League rankings with 18 points, just three points behind table leaders Manchester City.
