Ex-Pirates Star Targeted by Major European Clubs
At least four European clubs have apparently set their sights on former Orlando Pirates attacking midfielder, Relebohile Mofokeng.
Back in July, the 21-year-old prodigy signed with Belgian outfit, Royale Union Saint-Gilloise, on a four-year deal. As of late, he has been putting on impressive performances on the pitch, scoring four goals in nine appearances for Union.
As a result, Mofokeng’s prowess is attracting interest from Chelsea, Brighton & Hove Albion, Atletico Madrid and Napoli.
Chelsea – which boasts big-name stars such as Danny Welbeck and Reece James – are reportedly keeping a close eye on Mofokeng’s development, hoping he can adapt to the style of play in the English Premier League (EPL) should they ever sign him.
The same logic applies to fellow EPL club, Brighton, which faces the possibility of losing key talents to other teams and must therefore plan strategically for the future.
As for Atletico Madrid and Napoli, Mofokeng’s versatility could make him a valuable asset in either La Liga or Serie A.
While rising talent has shown no indication of moving on from Union any time soon, it’s safe to say that he has plenty of options to pick from should he ever leave.
