Is “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” Ending Next Year?

Conflicting reports have arisen regarding the status of the long-running, late-night talk show, Jimmy Kimmel Live!

Fronted by comedian Jimmy Kimmel, the show has been airing since 2003. In recent years, it has courted controversy, namely due to Kimmel’s penchant for humorously criticising current US president, Donald Trump, and his governmental policies.

On Tuesday, 8 September, a prominent American tabloid reported that the 58-year-old’s eponymous talk show would air for the last time in May 2027.

“His contract is not getting extended,” a source divulged to the publication.

However, ABC Entertainment, the television network that broadcasts Jimmy Kimmel Live!, has denied the report as false.

“This information is inaccurate,” an ABC Entertainment spokesperson told another US media outlet on Tuesday. “Any reports about the future of the show at this point are purely speculative.”

Despite ABC’s pushback, Kimmel’s existing deal is slated to run until May 2027. This contract timeline casts uncertainty over both his next moves and the long-term future of the show.

Kimmel himself has yet to comment on these reports.
