Mamelodi Sundowns Win MTN8 Final 2-0

Mamelodi Sundowns are the winners of the MTN8 title after defeating Orlando Pirates 2-0 on Saturday, 10 October.

In front of a passionate crowd at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, the Brazilians faced off against the Sowetan outfit.

For a large portion of the game, Sundowns maintained a strong possession (52%) of the ball, which enabled midfielder Teboho Mokoena to hand them a 1-0 lead in the 11th minute. Nevertheless, their opponents were wily enough to keep them on their toes in both the first and second halves.

Fortunately for the Brazilians, forward Iqraam Rayners was able to net a goal in stoppage time, bumping the score to 2-0 and thus allowing the club to secure the MTN8 championship at the final whistle.

This victory marks Mamelodi Sundowns’ fifth MTN8 win – they last won the competition back in 2021 when they beat Cape Town City 3-2 on penalties.

Congratulations to the Brazilians for their win!
