Real Madrid Demand Resignation of La Liga Chief

An institutional crisis has erupted between Real Madrid and La Liga after manager Jose Mourinho criticised officiating in a 2-1 loss to Atletico Madrid. Mourinho displayed screenshots to the media, insisting opponents deserved two red cards.

League president Javier Tebas publicly dismissed allegations of bias, declaring on social media that “claiming that referees are directed against Real Madrid is living in another galaxy.”

Tebas suggested the narrative was an excuse for early-season shortcomings, adding that “it’s more comfortable to point to a conspiracy than to explain what’s happening on the pitch.”

The Spanish giants retaliated by demanding the league chief’s immediate removal. In an official statement, the club described Tebas’ comments as “intolerable” and “unbecoming of a responsible administrator,” arguing that Spanish top-flight football requires a leader capable of maintaining a “fundamental duty of neutrality.”

The public feud highlights deep-seated tensions, with Tebas claiming the club exhibits disdain for rival teams. Meanwhile, Los Blancos lie fourth in the standings, six points behind leaders Barcelona.

Mourinho maintained his team can succeed “if they let us compete on a level playing field,” as the club continues seeking accountability regarding match officials.
