Actor David Rees is “Thankful” for His Fan’s Support
David Rees has given thanks to his friends, family, medical team, and fans who supported him while he was “fighting the hardest fight of his life”.
Corlia Strauss, public relations manager for the veteran actor, shared an official statement from Rees via his Facebook page on Tuesday, 29 August: “To every single person who wished me well! Everyone pledged support in some or another way.”
“The doctors and staff at Milpark Hospital. You saved my life. I send my deepest gratitude out there to you all. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you,” he emotionally expressed.
Rees – who is well-known for his role as Chris Welman on the popular Mzansi soapie “7de Laan” – suffered a heart attack at his home in Johannesburg, Gauteng at the beginning of August. During his hospitalisation, Rees also suffered a minor lung infection before he was released on Saturday, 26 August.
In the Facebook post, Strauss also asked fans to donate to the actor’s BackaBuddy campaign, which was created to help him cover the eye-watering R500 000 hospital bill, as he did not have medical aid.
“No contribution is too small or too large; every act of generosity counts. Your financial support will alleviate the immense strain on David’s family, providing them with the breathing room they so desperately need,” Strauss appealed.
