Cellc.mobi Content Subscription Service Terms and Conditions
These Terms and Conditions explain the rules for using and subscribing to our content service via the cellc.mobi portal and/ or USSD menu, which we call “the Service”. The Service is provided by Cell C Limited and Hyve Mobile (Pty) Ltd, which are both companies registered in South Africa. When we say “we,” or “us,” we mean Cell C and Hyve Mobile. When we say “you” or “your,” we mean you, the person using, subscribing and/ or accessing the Service.
By using, subscribing to, and/ or accessing the Service, you agree to and accept these Terms and Conditions. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the Service. These rules are backed by South African law, and our Privacy Policy also applies (you can find Cell C’s Privacy Policy here and Hyve Mobile’s Privacy Policy here).

Please read this carefully before using the Service:
1. Costs and Billing
- Fees:
- The Service is provided to you at a fixed recurring fee (as in a daily or weekly subscription fee) for access.
- You’ll see the pricing information on the opt in page when you sign up, for example, R5.00/day subscription.
- It’s up to you to check and understand the fees and how long your subscription lasts before signing up or using the Service.
- Billing:
- Depending on the Service, we’ll charge you a daily, weekly, or monthly subscription fee.
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period (e.g., every day for a daily subscription) unless you cancel the subscription.
- Check the “How to Unsubscribe” section below to stop your subscription.
- What Happens if You Don’t Have Enough Airtime:
- If we can’t charge you the full fee because you don’t have enough airtime, we may charge a smaller amount instead (called partial billing). For example, if R1.00 fails, we may try R0.50 or less.
- If we still can’t charge you, you’ll owe us the fee for any days the Service stays active. We can collect up to 4 missed days later. This means you might get charged more than once in a day—one for today and one for missed days.
- Signing Up:
- Before you use the Service, you’ll need to confirm you’re okay with the fees through a “double opt-in” process (we’ll ask you to confirm your subscription twice to make sure). We won’t charge you or start the Service until you do this.
- If we still can’t charge you, you’ll owe us the fee for any days the Service stays active. We can collect up to 4 missed days later. This means you might get charged more than once in a day—one for today and one for missed days.
- Extra Costs:
- Unless otherwise stated, fees don’t include data, SMS, or MMS charges from your network. Those are standard charges you’ll pay separately.
2. How to Unsubscribe
- You can stop your subscription anytime by:
- Dialling [insert unsubscribe number] from your phone and following the steps; or
- Sending ‘STOP’ to 14788. This SMS is free.
- Checking the confirmation SMS we send when you sign up. It’ll tell you how to cancel—either by texting “STOP” to a 14788 or clicking a link to manage unsubscribing online.
- We’ll send you a reminder every 7 days with these instructions while your subscription is active.

- Cell C and Hyve Mobile are members of WASPA (Wireless Application Service Providers’ Association) and we are bound by the WASPA Code of Conduct. Customers have the right to approach WASPA to lodge a complaint in accordance with the WASPA complaints procedure.We may be required to share information relating to a service, you or a customer with WASPA for the purpose of resolving a complaint.

4. Using the Service (Licence and Rules)
- Ownership:
- We (or the original owners of any content we license) own all rights to the Service, like copyright and intellectual property.
- Your Use:
- The Service is for your personal use only. You may not forward, duplicate, replicate, reverse-engineer or otherwise manipulate the Service or its content for use in any way.
- You are responsible for all charges and fees resulting from the provision and/or use of the Service by any third party, whether authorized by you or not, despite the double opt-in process.
- Lost or Stolen Devices:
- If your SIM card or device gets lost or stolen, please inform Cell C right away. They’ll block it to protect you.
- You’re responsible for any charges until you tell Cell C to block your number. After that, you won’t be charged for anything someone else does with it.
5. General Rules
- Changes to These Terms:
- We reserve the right to modify or update these Terms whenever we need to. We’ll post the new version where you found this one.
- Each time you access the cell.mobi website, the Cell C USSD Entertainment Menu or respond to a promotional message distributing the Service, you agree to be bound by the terms and conditions, as may be modified from time to time.
- Fraud:
- If we suspect something fraudulent is going on, we may investigate and can pause your subscription to the Service. If we confirm fraud, we will immediately stop your access.
- No Guarantees:
- Some services may not be suitable for your handset..We do not warrant that the Service will be compatible with your mobile device.
- We try hard to make the Service work well, but we can’t promise it’ll always be available, accurate, or error-free. You use it “as is,” and we’re not responsible for any problems it causes (as far as the law allows).
- We don’t promise it’ll work perfectly on your device or at all times and places
- Cell C, Hyve Mobile and any of their agents, directors, affiliates, members or employees shall not be responsible in any way for claims, loss or damages (either direct, indirect, consequential or otherwise), arising from your use of the Service.
- We therefore make no representations or warranties, whether express or implied, and assume no liability or responsibility for the proper performance of the Service. The Service is used at your own risk.
- Discontinuing or Changing the Service:
- We may discontinue or change the Service if we need to. We’ll let you know if it affects you. You will not have any claims against us in this event.
- Content:
- Any words, views or opinions expressed anywhere in the Content does not in any way reflect the views and opinions of Cell C.
- Marketing:
- By agreeing to these Terms and Conditions, you give us the necessary consent to send you targeted direct marketing messages based on your historical subscription data.
- You are entitled to opt out of these direct marketing messages with the applicable “STOP” command provided to you in such messages.
- Network Fees:
- Cell C may charge you extra fees to use the Service.
- The Service may only be used with the permission of the bill-payer, or parent/guardian for children’s services.
- What You Can’t Do:
- This Service may not be used to :
- to intentionally engage in illegal conduct,
- to knowingly create, store or disseminate any illegal content,
- to knowingly infringe copyright,
- to knowingly infringe any intellectual property rights, or
- to send spam or promote the sending of spam.
- This Service may not be used to :
- Suspension:
- Cell C and Hyve Mobile have the right to suspend or terminate the Services of any customer who does not comply with these Terms and Conditions or any other related contractual obligations, and has the right to take down any content (hosted as part of the Service) that it considers illegal or for which it has received a take-down notice.
6. Privacy and Your Information
- What We Collect:
- We collect personal information that is necessary for us to provide you with our services. We only collect and use the minimum personal information we need in order to provide and improve our services.
- Examples of personal information which we collect and process include your fixed or mobile phone number (MSISDN) in order to provide you with the Service and bill you accordingly, and where you log a customer complaint or win a competition, we will collect and process your name; ID number, email address and/or your physical address.

- Subscribe or register for access to our Service or services;
- Enter promotional competitions or if you are selected as a winner of a competition; or

- We’ll hold onto your info as long as the law says we may. If there’s no rule, we’ll keep it only as long as we need it.
- Who We Share It With:
- We may share your personal information with:
- Employees (on a need to know basis) within Cell C Limited and Hyve Mobile;
- Partners who help run the Service;
- Credit or fraud agencies (if needed);
- Police or regulators (if we have to); or
- A new owner if we sell or reorganise the company.

7. South African Law:
- This agreement is governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of South Africa.
iPhone Summer Wins – Subscribe and Win an iPhone 14 and Shoprite Vouchers!
1. Introduction
- The iPhone Summer Wins Competition (“the Summer Campaign”) gives Cell C customers (that’s you, the “Participant”) a chance to win an iPhone 14 or a Shoprite Voucher.
- To enter, you need to subscribe to a Service on cellc.mobi during the Summer Campaign Period. The Summer Campaign Period will run from 20 November 2025 until 28 February 2026.
- The Summer Campaign is organised and run by Hyve Mobile on Cell C’s cellc.mobi content services (together, we call them “the Promoters” or “us”).
- These Competitions Terms and Conditions (or “Competition Terms”) are the rules you agree to follow if you take part in the Campaign.
Please read these Competition Terms carefully. - A copy of the Competition Rules may be obtained on this website.
- If anything here confuses you, call us at 135 from a Cell C phone or 084 135 from another network for any assistance.
- If you don’t agree with these Competition Terms, don’t join the Campaign. You can avoid it by not subscribing or by cancelling your subscription. By subscribing to our Service and staying in the Campaign, you’re saying “yes” to these rules and any other terms that might apply.
- Joining the Summer Campaign means you undertake to stick to these Competition Terms.
How Long the Campaign Runs
- The Summer Campaign starts on 20 November 2025 at midnight (00:00) and ends on 28 February 2026 at 11:59 PM (23:59), unless we tell you otherwise. We call this the “Summer Campaign Period.”
- We may stop the Summer Campaign early if we want to, and it’s totally up to us.
Campaign Rules
- Prizes may not be exchanged for cash.
- We reserve the right to change or substitute the prize to something else of similar commercial value without notice. You will not have a claim of any nature against the Promoters should this occur. complain about it. It’s our call.
Who Can Enter
- The Summer Campaign is open to all Cell C customers (Prepaid, Post-paid, or TopUp/Hybrid) who:
- Are natural persons (not companies);
- Aren’t excluded from the Campaign as per the Exclusions List below;
- Are over 18 years old (or under 18 with permission— If you’re under 18, you need written permission from your parent or guardian to join. They’ll need to prove they’re related to you.);
- Have a valid South African ID or passport; and
- Live in South Africa during the Campaign Period.
- Exclusions List – You can’t join the Summer Campaign and will be disqualified if you’re:
- A director, employee, agent, contractor, consultant, or business partner of Cell C or Hyve Mobile;
- A spouse, partner, parent, child, or sibling of someone working for Cell C or Hyve Mobile; or
- Not a Cell C customer (e.g., you’re on another network).
- Your phone number must stay active on the Cell C network until the Summer Campaign ends. If it’s not active when we check and draw the prize at the end, you will be disqualified from the Summer Campaign.
How to Join and Win
- To stand a chance at winning, you need to subscribe to a Content Service on cellc.mobi during the Summer Campaign Period.
- Joining the Summer Campaign is free, but you’ll still pay the usual data, airtime, and subscription costs for the Content Service.
- Here’s how to subscribe:
- Dial the USSD string advertised on CellC “Please Call Me” messages or direct SMS marketing messages;
- By selecting a service on the CellC *147*6# USSD content menu and follow the prompts to subscribe to the service;
- By clicking on one of the promotional banners on the Cell C “No Funds” webpage or cellc.mobi homepage as advertised.
- By clicking on a Google promotional banner for the Summer Campaign Content Service and sign up with the double opt-in;
- By clicking on a SATPush message and following the steps to sign up.
Prize Draws
- When you subscribe to a Summer Campaign Content Service on cellc.mobi, you get one entry into that month’s prize draw.
- At the end of the Summer Campaign Period (28 February 2026), we’ll pull all valid entries (that’s all the qualifying cellphone numbers subscribed) into an electronic draw and pick a winner randomly (the “Winner”).
- If you’re selected as one of the Winners, you will receive a phone call from a representative of Hyve.
- Hyve will use reasonable efforts to contact the Winner telephonically on the contact details used by the participant to participate in the Summer Campaign.
- Winners will be contacted during working hours, between 8 (eight) in the morning and 5 (five) in the afternoon.
- Hyve shall attempt to contact the winner for a period of 2 (two) working days after his or her name has been drawn and verified as a Winner.
- Should a participant not be available on the contact number provided during the timeframe stipulated above or rejects, forfeits or declines acceptance of the prize, that person’s right to the prize will be deemed to have been waived and the prize will be forfeited. Hyve reserves the right to then award the prize to the next randomly drawn participant.
- Each Winner must be able to identify himself or herself in a manner determined by Hyve as the entrant of the Competition and has to comply with the required validation procedure in order to claim the prize.
- Participants must be in possession of a valid South African identity document or permanent residence permit or temporary residence permit valid for a period exceeding 12 (twelve) months for the Republic of South Africa and valid at the end date.
- Hyve may request the Winner’s consent in writing to their image and/or likeness being used and published by Hyve in connection with the Competition for a period of 12 (twelve) months after they are announced as winners. Winners may decline the use of their image and/or likeness by Hyve.
Prize
- We will award 3x (three) iPhone 14’s to the value of R13,000 (thirteen thousand Rand) each and 10x (ten) Shoprite vouchers to the value of R1,000 (one thousand Rand) each. The total value of the prizes up from grabs equals R49,000 (forty nine thousand Rand).
- Please watch out for scams! We will never ask you to give us any personal or payment details. If someone asks, don’t share anything – it’s not us and we’re not responsible if you do get scammed.
How We Pick Winners
- Winners are chosen randomly using an electronic draw. We will enter all valid cellphone numbers subscribed to the Summer Campaign Content Services during the Summer Campaign Period into the draw.
- We collect entries each month from the 1st at midnight (00:00) to the last day at 11:59 PM (23:59).
General
- The prizes are not transferable or exchangeable.
- The prize will be delivered to the Winner’s chosen address by courier. Hyve may require that the winner provide details of their address in order for the prize to be delivered.
- Hyve shall not be liable for any costs incurred by the Winner in claiming the prize.
- All risks and ownership of the prize shall pass to the Winner on transfer/delivery thereof and hence all of Hyve’ obligations in regard to the Summer Campaign as well as in regard to the prize shall terminate.
- Notwithstanding the fact that the prize vests on the Winners immediately upon the determination of the results, any prizes that remain unclaimed/undeliverable after three (3) months of the end date or no reasonable effort is made on the part of the Winners to claim the prizes despite having been advised of the results of the Summer Campaign will be forfeited.
- In the event of a dispute in regard to any aspect of the Competition and/or the Terms and Conditions, Hyve’s decision will be final and binding and no correspondence may be entered into.
- Hyve may refuse to award the prizes if entry procedures or these Terms and Conditions have not been adhered to or if it detects any irregularities or fraudulent practices. Hyve is entitled in its entire discretion to reject any participant for any reason and will not be obliged to notify participants that they are rejected.
- Hyve is not liable for any technical or logistical failures affecting participation and/or prize redemption process of the Competition.
- Hyve assumes no liability whatsoever for any entry that has been omitted from participation in the Competition for any reason whatsoever.
- Hyve has no control over the interception or loss of your personal information over the internet and assumes no liability for any such interception or loss.
- User personal information collected via the Competition will not be used for any other purpose than for the Competition and the provision of the services promoted.
- Neither Hyve nor any other person or party associated with the Summer Campaign, their associated companies, agents, contractors and sponsors and any of its personnel involved in the Summer Campaign, shall be liable whatsoever for any loss or damage incurred or suffered (including but not limited to direct or indirect or consequential loss), death or personal injury suffered or sustained arising from either participation in the Summer Campaign or from claiming the prize.
- Hyve further reserves the right to alter, cancel or terminate the Summer Campaign immediately and without notice in the event that the Competition is held to be or becomes unlawful.In such an event all participants hereby waive any rights which they may have against Hyve and acknowledge that they will have no recourse or claim of any nature whatsoever against Hyve.
- All information relating to the Summer Campaign and published on any promotional material will form part of these Terms and Conditions.
- Cellc.mobi standard terms and conditions for the use of its mobile content services apply when subscribing to or accessing any of the services promoted during the Competition.
Data/ Airtime Giveaway Competition – Subscribe and Win 40GB of Data and/ or R100 Worth of Airtime!

Monthly Prize Draws
- When you subscribe to a Campaign Content Service on cellc.mobi, you get one entry into that month’s prize draw.
- At the end of each month (starting from 1 January 2025), we’ll pull all valid entries (that’s all the qualifying cellphone numbers subscribed) into an electronic draw and pick a winner randomly (the “Winner”).
- If you’re selected as one of the Winners in a particular month, you will receive a data or airtime top up notification SMS within 5 days of the draw, and we will automatically top up your account with the prize.
Prize
- The prize is 40GB of data or R100 of airtime topped up to your account if you are selected as a Winner.
- There are 20x 40GB data prizes or 10x R100 airtime prizes that will be awarded each month for the Campaign Period.
- The promotional banner will specify if the prize is data or airtime for the month in which you have subscribed.
- Please watch out for scams! We will never ask you to give us any personal or payment details. If someone asks, don’t share anything—it’s not us and we’re not responsible if you do get scammed.
How We Pick Winners
