AmaZulu and Durban City Face Fiery KZN Derby

KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) football fans can expect fireworks when AmaZulu FC and Durban City FC meet for the first time in their Premier Soccer League (PSL) showdown at Moses Mabhida Stadium this Saturday, 18 October.

AmaZulu, under new coach Arthur Zwane, are ninth on the PSL log with 12 points and boast a flawless home record of three wins from three games. His team has shown defensive grit but struggle in attack, as demonstrated in their 1-1 draw with Kaizer Chiefs before the international break.

The 52-year-old coach believes new technical staff addition Simo Dladla will offer crucial insight, as he recently told a local publication: “Having Coach Simo, not only for this game, is a big time help… he knows how players behave with the ball, their strengths and weaknesses.”

Meanwhile, Durban City, guided by Gavin Hunt, have been a revelation in their debut top-flight season, sitting in fourth place on the PSL table with 15 points. They head into the clash on the back of a convincing 3-1 win over Magesi FC, though their away form remains patchy.

With AmaZulu unbeaten at home and Durban City eager to push into the CAF qualification spots, this weekend’s clash promises to spark a new provincial rivalry in the heart of KZN football.
