AmaZulu Down Chippa 2-0

What could’ve been a goalless draw turned into a 2-0 victory for AmaZulu FC over Chippa United at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium Gqeberha on Sunday, 5 March.

The first half of the match saw neither team scoring whatsoever, as they both failed to keep their shots on target. The rainfall was also a contributing factor to the state of play, dampening the pitch somewhat.

The early minutes of the second half suggested a repeat performance of the first half. Fortunately, the spell was broken when attacker Sede Junior Dion gave AmaZulu a 1-0 lead in the 60th minute.

Twenty-one minutes later, team-mate Mbongeni Gumede received some assistance from George Maluleka in order to score the second and final goal for Usuthu.

As a result of their 2-0 win, AmaZulu FC currently occupy eighth place on the Premier Soccer League rankings with 28 points; Chippa United remain in 13th place with 24 points.
