Andy Fletcher of Depeche Mode Dies at 60
Andy Fletcher, founding member and keyboardist of Depeche Mode, has passed away.
On Thursday night, 26 May, the band shared the sad news across social platforms.
“We are shocked and filled with overwhelming sadness with the untimely passing of our dear friend, family member, and bandmate Andy ‘Fletch’ Fletcher,” the joint statement reads.
It continued: “Fletch had a true heart of gold and was always there when you needed support, a lively conversation, a good laugh, or a cold pint.”
A close friend of Fletcher confirmed that the musician had died from natural causes at his United Kingdom home. He is survived by his wife of almost three decades, Grainne, and their two children, Megan and Joe.
The highly influential electronic music band produced a string of ‘80s hits, but they achieved international acclaim and worldwide attention with the release of their highly influential 1990 album, “Violator”, which contained the hit singles “Enjoy the Silence” and “Personal Jesus”.
