Ayanda Daweti Leaves “Scandal!” for Another Show

Actor Ayanda Daweti is set to leave popular soapie, “Scandal!”, for another acting gig.

Earlier this week, entertainment commentator Phil Mphela tweeted that Daweti – who plays Chumani Langa on the show – has landed another part on Mzansi Magic drama series, “Gomora”.

“Daweti is officially off the e.tv show and joins ‘Gomora’ after a short stint as Gugu’s love interest,” Mphela wrote. “He joins the world of crime and gangsterism under the wing of notorious criminal Qhoqhoqho [played by Pakamisa Zwedala].”

“Gomora” fans will remember that the 32-year-old actor briefly appeared in season two, so clearly the showrunners want him to stick around for longer this time.

It’s not yet known when Daweti will make his debut on the show, but by the sound of things, it will be pretty soon.

His departure from “Scandal!” comes eight months after Sivenathi Mabuya – who played his on-screen sister, Xolile Langa – quit the show. Five days before that, Lusanda Mbane (playing the pair’s mother, Boniswa) left the show to play Makhosazana in “Imbewu: The Seed”.
