Ayo Edebiri Shines at 2024 Golden Globes
Nigerian-American actress, Ayo Edebiri, has earned herself a spot in many people’s hearts with her Golden Globe Awards acceptance speech.
The 28-year-old starlet was recognised as “Best Actress in a Television Comedy” for her performance as Sydney Adamu in “The Bear”, a dark comedy about a chef fighting to turn around a restaurant.
During her rousing acceptance speech, Edebiri thanked several people, including her castmates, crew, agents and family. However, she really caught people’s attention when she chose to thank a group of people who usually go unmentioned.
“All of my agents and managers’ assistants! The people who answer my emails. Y’all are real ones,” she said as the crowd erupted in applause. “Thank you for answering my crazy, crazy emails,” the actress added.
The shout-out earned Edebiri a flood of praise for her kind words, as many people in difficult careers felt validated.
“It was a cool moment, a classy thing to do, and I hope it’s the first of many,” Warner Bailey, a former assistant, told an international publication the following day. “One thing is for sure: Ayo Edebiri just won the hearts of every assistant out there,” he added.
