Babes Wodumo Fakes Viral Instagram “Rant”

Relax, folks – Babes Wodumo’s viral outburst at her mother-in-law was apparently staged.

On Thursday, 9 December, the Gqom songstress launched a scathing, seemingly drunken attack on Instagram Live against Zama Gumede, whom she accused of leaving Mampintsha – Wodumo’s husband – three days after he was born.

She also called out Gumede for making disparaging remarks about her pregnancy back in April; the older woman claimed in an interview that the “Wololo” hitmaker was faking her pregnancy, even though she ultimately gave birth to a son named Sponge.

Speaking to a local media outlet, Sbu Ncube, the manager of West Ink Records, revealed that the video was all just a publicity stunt to promote Wodumo’s new EP, “Crown”, which came out today, Friday, 10 December.

Ncube said: “We wanted to do something that will trend, bring the eyes to us, and it worked. I asked Babes to do it at a time when children would be sleeping and won’t witness the strong language.”

He added: “Every character has their own selling line. [The fans] know Babes as a bad babe. So who knows, another stunt like that could come out soon.”
