Bournemouth Bounce Back into the Premier League
AFC Bournemouth are back in the Premier League after spending two seasons in the English Football League Championship.
Taking on Nottingham Forest at Dean Stadium on Tuesday evening, 3 May, the Cherries won the game 1-0 after substitute striker, Kieffer Moore, scored the sole goal of the night at the 83rd minute.
As a result, Bournemouth have been automatically promoted to the Premier League, from which the club was demoted back in 2020.
In a post-match interview, manager Scott Parker lavished praise on his men, and he also thanked their fans.
“First and foremost, I’m delighted for the fans and my players,” he declared. “They deserve this position. It means a lot. We never had control in the first half and we didn’t want a basketball match. We spoke about control and calm and process. We didn’t execute the game-plan, [but] in the second half we showed our dominance.
“This group is a young team, learning their trade in a promotion task,” Parker added. “One thing about this group, if we need a result we dig deep and find it.”
