Bucs Forward Dzvukamanja Changes Fortunes

Orlando Pirates attacking midfielder, Terrence Dzvukamanja, was looking down and out in the middle of the 2022-23 season, but then his luck changed and he is now a hot commodity.

The 29-year-old Zimbabwean forward’s future with the club was looking bleak, with a transfer to Supersport United half-way through the season on the cards, as he had barely seen any game time, having featured only once in 15 matches due to his wilting form.

However, he dug deep and the second round of the Bucs’ campaign was blessed with Dzvukamanja scoring eight goals in 18 matches, which also included the winning goal to secure the Nedbank Cup title 2-1 against Sekhukhune United at Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria, Gauteng on Saturday, 27 May.

Coach Jose Riveiro was considering letting the Zim striker go, unbeknownst to Dzvukamanja who was only aware of “rumours” as the club had not informed him nor his agent, Mike Makaab.

However, the Spaniard decided against the transfer and was rewarded with a memorable season, and Makaab has mentioned that talks will soon be underway to discuss a contract extension for the fired-up forward.

The change of fortunes could not have come at a better time, as Riveiro is focusing on building the Soweto giants to claim the Premier Soccer League silverware in the 2023-24 season.
