Celeb Twitter Round-Up: Flora Mthimkhulu Sets Social Media Ablaze
The lives of celebrities are hardly ever private, and when someone’s wife is allegedly entertaining a person who is not her husband, social media is bound to have something to say. A single tweet from a gossip-spreading Twitter/X account was all it took to pique the interest of those who love tea.
On 20 June, said account shared claims about Flora Mthimkhulu – the second wife of radio personality Ngizwe Mchunu – that she had allegedly attended a private house party in Cape Town and was also allegedly in a relationship with a Nigerian businessman who operates in the city.
The post quickly gained traction on the internet, with tweeps debating the claims, sharing theories and reacting to the circulating footage. While some believed the clips supported the rumours, others argued that the footage alone was not enough to confirm the allegations, encouraging people to avoid jumping to conclusions.
The situation is further complicated by the fact that her beau holds an anti-immigrant stance and is politically-minded, make of that what you will!
Checking the rest of the comments, you would see that some people tried to add facts to the story, like stating that she is, indeed, a musician and occasionally collaborates with musicians from other countries.
Then there were those tweeps trying to be mature about what is happening and rational in their thinking by not jumping to conclusions, which is considered a pastime on social media.
From drama detectives to relationship advisors and professional jokers, Mzansi did what it does best-turned the whole thing into entertainment.
However, it NEVER takes long for the jokes to come rolling in and people to fire up the memes. If it’s not noting the irony, throwing shade at Mchunu for not “satisfying” his wife, or Mchunu taking the allegations personally, or claiming that Mchunu’s political leanings are a direct result of him taking the allegations personally.
Infamous online troll Chris Excel added his five Rand to the mix and folks latched onto it to make even more jokes.
Of course you would have those online users who simply see an attractive woman and forget everything else, exposing their one-track minds. At this point, the comments deserve their own headlines.
Whether the rumours prove to be true or not – Pablo Venz, a Nigerian national, was quick to deny any involvement, but that might just be more fuel to the fire – the online reaction has already become a story of its own. From heated debates to hilarious one-liners, Mzansi once again showed why its social media community remains undefeated on the internet.
