Celeb Twitter Round-Up: Reason’s NOT Feeling Loot Love/Gigi Lamayne Comparisons

When it comes to romantic relationships, everyone from your mother to a random stranger on the Internet is gonna voice their opinion, needless or otherwise. That’s especially true if you’ve broken up with your significant other and moved on with another person.
Heck, it’s not just a pleb thing, either: our fave celebs get hit hard (if not harder) with all sorts of criticism when they begin dating somebody else, as their new flames get constantly compared to their old ones.
Take Reason (AKA Sizwe Alakine), for example: the rapper/Amapiano artist was happily married to Mosa Moketsi before they got divorced in 2017. Soon afterwards, he and radio presenter, Luthando “Loot Love” Shosha, became an official item and welcomed twins together. However, they broke up in 2020.
In October 2024, Reason began dating fellow rapper, Gigi Lamayne, and suffice it to say, they look like a beautiful couple.
However, podcasters Thakgi and Sfiso Ndlovu dared to disagree, with the duo (mostly Ndlovu) labelling Lamayne as a “downgrade” from Loot Love on a recent episode of “Piano Pulse”:
Well, Reason did not take kindly to their comments. So, he appeared on the latest episode of “Piano Pulse” (uploaded to YouTube on Tuesday, 18 March), where he confronted the duo and gave them more than a piece of his mind:
“Last week, Sfiso made a comment about Gigi being a downgrade,” Reason is heard saying in a heated tone, “so I came here to understand what that conversation was about. What part of the game is this? What gives anyone the right to call anyone a downgrade? How did you quantify that my current girlfriend is a downgrade from my ex?”
Despite Thakgi and Ndlovu’s attempts to justify their remarks, the “Imithandazo” hitmaker steamrolled over them: “Give me facts, but you have no facts! You’re trying to justify s*** that has no basis! I didn’t come here to have a conversation. I came here to rectify you.”
Eventually, the duo calmed the waters by offering an apology to Reason, as well as to Lamayne.
As you can imagine, Twitter/X had all sorts of opinions about the confrontation. Many applauded Reason for standing up for his S/O and making the hosts quiver in their boots:
Then you got folks like @Pharaoh_stunner and @BassieBuzzing, who thought that the shouting wasn’t enough and wanted some actual fighting:
Some tweeps reckoned that Reason was unable to take any criticism at all (despite the fact that he didn’t seem to take issue with Thakgi and Ndlovu when they were also less than complimentary about his latest music):
Others like @SejoshS86355 resorted to being petty by calling Reason’s music career “dead”, while also arguing that Lamayne is a downgrade from Loot Love:
Although some peeps didn’t appreciate Reason’s appearance/shouting match on the podcast, a certain someone did, and that’s all the “Khanda Shisa” rapper cares about:
What do you think, folks? Do you think the drama is over? Guess we have to wait and see if Thakgi and Ndlovu will address the situation on the next episode of “Piano Pulse”!
