Celeb Twitter Round-Up: Tributes Pour in For Teboho Mahlatsi
South Africa has been thrown into mourning following the death of illustrious writer-filmmaker and producer, Teboho Mahlatsi.
According to a family statement, Mahlatsi passed away on Monday, 3 July, at the age of 49. The cause of death is not known at this time, although various reports state that he had been suffering from cancer.
One of the best known creatives in SA, Mahlatsi’s résumé include writing, production and directing credits for various films and TV shows such as “Portrait of a Young Man Drowning”, “Isibaya” and “Shaka iLembe”.
Also, he’s best known for co-creating “Yizo Yizo”, the popular (and controversial) SABC1 show which revolved around students at a Soweto high school and the real-life topics/issues they dealt with like substance abuse, gangsterism, HIV/AIDS and sexuality.
