Celeb Twitter Round-Up: Tweeps Fuming Over Travis Scott’s “Africa” Gaffe

In this day and age, when anyone can access the Internet on even the most outdated iPhone – or, you know, one can just pick up a book – most folks should know that Africa is NOT a country. Believe it or not, it’s a full-blown continent, which means it has countries of its own, including good ol’ South Africa (a nation that often gets mistaken for the continent itself).

Y’all would think that this would be a well-known fact. Unfortunately, a lot of peeps out there – ESPECIALLY across the pond – still possess an “Africa is a country” mindset.

On that note, we bring you the following news: US rapper Travis Scott is coming to SA later this year as part of his “CIRCUS MAXIMUS” world tour.

Observe the promo pic he shared on Instagram:

Scott – who last performed in Mzansi in 2017 – will be making a stop in Johannesburg, Gauteng, where he will perform at the FNB Stadium on 11 October. He will then embark on the Asian leg of the tour.

Local fans took to Twitter/X to express their excitement:

However, eagle-eyed tweeps homed in on this particular bit of the pic:

Quite an oversight by the “SICKO MODE” hitmaker. If not by him, then definitely by his PR team. Either way, someone clearly doesn’t know their geography!

As such, a lotta folks were either amused or highly annoyed by the “Joburg, Africa” tagline, especially since all the other cities were correctly listed alongside their respective countries:

Wow, what a way to disrupt USA-SA relations even further!

Here’s hoping Scott or his PR team can fix this gaffe; after all, they’ve got between now and 11 October to do so. If not, well … he’d better perform for the rest of Africa, as the promo proclaims!
