Celeb Twitter Round-Up: Twitter Says Goodbye to Nompilo Dlamini
Another day, another death that’s rocked South Africa to the core. This time, Mzansi Twitter/X is saying goodbye to content creator, Nompilo “Mpilo” Dlamini.
A former school teacher-turned-influencer from Swaziland, Dlamini used her influence to raise awareness around cystic fibrosis, a condition that damages the lungs and other organs over time. She had been suffering from it since she was 18-years-old.
In recent years, Dlamini has garnered support and criticism from both ends of the Mzansi Twitter/X spectrum; some peeps, including rapper Cassper Nyovest, dug into their pockets to fund her medical expenses, while others accused her of running a scam.
On Monday, 30 October, it was announced via her Instagram Stories account that she had passed away in her sleep. She was just 29-years-old.
“As a family, we’re still digesting the news and will update you about the funeral arrangements in due course,” the post reads.
Over on Twitter, South Africans mourned aplenty:
Others took the time to chastise those who tried to bring Dlamini down with their false accusations:
A few reflected on how she may had already been preparing for her last days, judging by one of the last videos she made:
