Cristiano Ronaldo to Receive Special Award from UEFA

Cristiano Ronaldo is set to be honoured with a unique award by UEFA, recognising his exceptional achievements in the Champions League (UCL).

The accolade – which no other player has received – will be presented at the 2024/25 Champions League draw ceremony in Monaco tomorrow, Thursday 29 August. Ronaldo’s legacy will be celebrated at the Grimaldi Forum, underscoring his profound impact on European football.

The 39-year-old forward – who has scored a record 140 goals in 183 appearances for Sporting CP, Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Juventus – has established himself as the competition’s all-time top scorer.

He has won the UCL five times, once with Manchester United (2008) and four times with Real Madrid (2014, 2016, 2017, 2018), and holds numerous records, including the longest scoring streak of 11 consecutive matches.

UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin praised Ronaldo as “one of the brightest stars” of the Champions League, noting his enduring goal-scoring prowess and dedication to excellence.

The accolade comes as UEFA also announces a new format for the 2024/25 UCL, expanding the competition to 36 teams with a revised group stage structure.
