Denzel Washington Clashes With Photographer at Premiere

Denzel Washington found himself at the centre of a brief confrontation with a photographer during the premiere of his movie, “Highest 2 Lowest”, at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival on Monday, 19 May.

While chatting with co-star ASAP Rocky, the 70-year-old actor was approached by a photographer who grabbed his arm in an attempt to get his attention. The “Training Day” star, clearly displeased, turned towards the photographer and sternly told him to “stop it”, before pulling away and walking off.

Despite the tense moment on the red carpet, Washington appeared in good spirits inside the theatre, where he, director Spike Lee, and ASAP Rocky received a standing ovation for their work on the film.

Later in the evening, the actor was surprised with an honorary Palme d’Or for his exceptional contributions to cinema, an honour given to only a select few. In an emotional speech, the two-time Academy Award winner expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to collaborate with Lee once again, and for the privilege of being part of the prestigious event.

“You know, we’re just blessed beyond measure, I’m blessed beyond measure, and from the bottom of my heart, I thank you all. Thank you,” he said fondly.
