Dinamo Coach’s Job on the Line Ahead of UCL Match
Dinamo Zagreb head coach, Nenad Bjelica, acknowledges that his job is on the line if his team fails to secure positive results in their upcoming UEFA Champions League (UCL) match against Celtic FC.
Currently, Dinamo are sitting in 23rd place in the UCL rankings with seven points, just scraping into the top 25.
Additionally, the Blues find themselves seven points off the top of the Croatian Football League after suffering a second defeat this season to Hajduk Split last Sunday, 1 December.
If the team falters against Celtic, Bjelica may face dismissal just three months after taking up the position – his predecessor, Sergej Jakirović, was sacked in September after a 9-2 defeat to Bayern Munich in the UCL.
“I am trying to get the most out of the team,” Bjelica said in a recent interview with a Scottish outlet. “I will continue to do that until someone tells me otherwise.”
He added: “We need to get our heads together, prepare for the next game and look forward. I am well aware of the situation here and the consequences of not winning enough games.”
Dinamo Zagreb will face off against Celtic on their home turf of Stadion Maksimir in Zagreb, Croatia, next Wednesday, 10 December.
