Diplo Responds to Assault Claims
Record producer, Diplo, has denied allegations of sexual assault and rape which emerged on Wednesday, 6 October.
Per a statement from the Los Angeles City Attorney’s office, an unidentified 25-year-old woman laid a complaint against Diplo last October, in which she accused him allegedly raping her, recording and distributing sexually explicit videos of her without her consent, and knowingly infecting her with chlamydia.
As a result, the Office is considering pressing sexual misconduct charges against the 42-year-old “Lean On” producer – real name Thomas Pentz – who on the same day told his side of the story.
Taking to Instagram, Diplo retorted that his encounters with the woman – whom he dubbed “SA” – were consensual, and that she was stalking him.
He wrote: “[SA] was an obsessed fan of mine, and after I relinquished all contact with her, it appears that her only purpose in life has been to disrupt my work, my business, harass me and my close friends and attack me and threaten my family.”
Diplo concluded that “he will continue to do everything I can to end this in the most respectful way but will not give in to lies and harassment.”
