DJ Maphorisa’s Multi-Million-Rand Money Woes
South African music producer, DJ Maphorisa, is reportedly facing severe financial difficulties.
A celebrity blog on X/Twitter shared the news on Sunday, 14 July, stating that the 36-year-old deejay – who is privately known as Themba Sekowe – allegedly owes his record label, Sony Music, a staggering R20 million.
Several sources claim that the “Particula” hitmaker took out a loan from the label but is now struggling to meet the repayment terms, including the interest payments. To alleviate the mounting pressure, it is alleged that he has pressured artists signed to his label, Blaqboy Music, to increase their performance schedule.
The news of Sekowe’s financial troubles has caused a stir across social media, with fans and industry figures alike expressing surprise given the producer’s lavish lifestyle. The musician is believed to have a fondness for luxury brands, having previously flaunted his Hermès Birkin bag, which costs R480 000.
Despite the allegations, Sekowe has yet to publicly address the claims.
