DJ Sbu Resigns from Radio 2000 for New Chapter

Veteran broadcaster and entrepreneur DJ Sbu has announced his resignation from Radio 2000, stepping away from his role as its weekday breakfast show host earlier than expected.
Per reports, DJ Sbu’s contract, real name Sbusiso Leope, was originally set to conclude at the end of March, but he confirmed his departure via a statement on Monday, 24 February.
Having rejoined the South African Broadcasting Corporation in April 2024 after nearly a decade away, the 47-year-old’s return to radio was unexpected. He had replaced Glen Lewis, who left Radio 2000 for Kaya 959.
Despite his short tenure, DJ Sbu expressed gratitude to his colleagues, management and listeners, acknowledging the invaluable experiences he had gained. In his farewell, the presenter thanked his loyal audience for their support and wished Radio 2000 continued success in the future.
He also revealed that he will be launching a new breakfast show on a different platform from 1 April, calling it a “fresh chapter” in his career. While details remain under wraps, he looks forward to embracing new opportunities.
