England Secure Euro 2024 Qualification
England manager, Gareth Southgate, is feeling proud of his squad after they were able to claim their spot in the 2024 UEFA Euro tournament on Tuesday, 17 October.
The British national team earned a comfortable 3-1 victory over Italy at Wembley Stadium in London, England with an enthusiastic home crowd filling the venue seats.
Italy came out of the gate hot, claiming their one and only point in the first 15 minutes of the match as striker Gianluca Scamacca worked alongside his teammate, Giovanni Di Lorenzo, to disprove any possible visitor disadvantage.
However, England were just getting warmed up, and striker Harry Kane put his side on the scoreboard with a penalty goal in the 32nd minute.
The remainder of the first half was tense, as fans from both sides eagerly watched to see who would break the stalemate. The answer came at the 57th minute mark, in the form of midfielder Marcus Rashford who scored the second point for England.
Kane solidified the host’s victory with a final goal at the 77th minute, bringing the scoreboard to a comfortable 3-1.
“This was the toughest qualifying group with the seedings … we’ve performed really well,” Southgate said during the post-match press conference.
