Eric Moyo, 41, Passes Away
Zimbabwean-born gospel singer Eric Moyo has passed away at the age of 41.
In a statement published by Joyous Celebration – of whom Moyo was a member – it was revealed that he had died in Gqeberha, Eastern Cape on Wednesday, 20 December, after succumbing to a “brief illness.”
“As a tenor singer, Eric brought joy to many through his electric performances and unique songs,” the statement continues. “His untimely passing will leave a deep void in the Joyous family. His legacy will live on through his music, which touched the hearts of many and made a significant contribution to the gospel music genre.”
Moyo first joined the famed choir in 2014, lending his energetic and soulful vocals to songs such as “Atawale”, “On the Cross” and “Jesu Akandinakira”.
“While we mourn his passing, let us also celebrate his life and the impact he had on those around him,” the statement concludes. “Eric Moyo may no longer be with us, but his spirit will live on through the beautiful music he created. Our thoughts and condolences go out to his family and friends during this difficult time.”
Details regarding the memorial service and funeral service are still to be confirmed.
