Ex-Polokwane City Coach Lands New Gig
Former Polokwane City coach, Willy Moloto, has been appointed as the new coach of a Ghanaian club.
Last month, it was reported that Moloto had been approached by Real Academicals FC, a second division team based in the Gomoa Asin locality. They reportedly offered him a six-month coaching deal.
On Saturday, 23 March, Moloto was unveiled as Academicals’ new manager.
“First of all, it’s a privilege to be chosen to be given the opportunity to work at the Real Academicals,” he said in an interview with a local soccer outlet (published on Monday, 25 March).
“Real Academicals is a well-run team in Ghana, and I am also thankful to the chairman and the board of directors for having faith in me. It’s not easy to hire someone from another country.”
Moloto previously co-managed Polokwane City, alongside Innocent Mayoyo, during the 2020/21 Premier Soccer League season. Afterwards, he attained the role as assistant coach at Pretoria Callies before ultimately making his departure this season.
With Moloto at the helm, Real Academicals have a chance to break into the Ghana Premier League – here’s hoping they will reach these heights in the not-too-distant future!
