Hungry Man United Devour Chelsea
Erik ten Hag is sleeping easier after Manchester United outplayed Chelsea 2-1 last night, Wednesday 6 December, at Old Trafford in Manchester, England.
The home side were in top form, taking the fight to the Blues throughout the match – a complete contrast to their lacklustre 1-0 loss to Newcastle last weekend – which revived the Red Devils boss’ hopes for the season.
Scott McTominay proved to be Ten Hag’s saviour as he struck for United in the 19th minute-mark to put his side up first, although Chelsea’s Cole Palmer responded roughly 20 minutes later to equalise before half-time.
Nevertheless, McTominay kept sniffing around the visitors’ goal box and was rewarded with a header that marked his brace for the night, putting United ahead at 69 minutes elapsed on the clock.
Although Marcus Rashford was missing from the starting line-up for the home team, it appears that the Old Trafford crowd did not mind the Dutchman’s decision to exclude one of his star players.
To top it off, Ten Hag was beaming in a post-match interview: “We deserved this … [we are] very pleased with the number of chances we created. It was very enjoyable for the fans to watch us play.”
