Jennifer Hudson Inches Closer to EGOT Status
Guess who is just one major award away from becoming an EGOT?
Jennifer Hudson was honoured with a Daytime Emmy on Thursday, 9 September, for her Outstanding Interactive Media work as an executive producer for the animated film, “Baba Yaga”.
She immediately took to Instagram later that evening to share her award news, posting an image of a golden ring bearing the word “EGO”.
In the caption, the “Respect” actress excitedly wrote: “I’ve had this ring for quite some time! For me, it always represented this day, the day I would say I have an EGO! Emmy, Grammy and Oscar!”
The 39-year-old actress previously won an Oscar for 2007’s “Dreamgirls” and picked up two Grammys: one for her 2009 debut album, “Jennifer Hudson”, and the other was best musical theatre album for 2017’s “The Color Purple”.
To become an EGOT requires winning an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony award each, of which Hudson needs just the latter. Big names who share the eminent title include Mel Brooks, Whoopi Goldberg and Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber.
