Kaizer Chiefs in Talks With Sundowns Star
Kaizer Chiefs are apparently looking to add Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder, Andile Jali, to their ranks.
According to reports, Jali is in talks with the Glamour Boys about a prospective move. Although details about his proposed salary and the length of his deal are scarce, it’s believed that he wants to keep his jersey number (15), which he wears during his Sundowns appearances.
The number in question was retired by Chiefs in honour of one of their most famous players, Doctor Khumalo, and has not been used by a Chiefs player since.
“For some it might seem as just a squad number, but these kinds of things have sentimental value for players,” one source explained. “If Chiefs are serious about Jali, they will have to bend over backwards for him and give him the No. 15 jersey, otherwise they can forget about having him in their team.”
To strengthen their midfield, Amakhosi may do well to sign 32-year-old Jali, whose current deal expires at the end of the season.
