Kaizer Chiefs Lose 1-0 to TS Galaxy

Three matches into their Premier Soccer League (PSL) campaign, and already Kaizer Chiefs are struggling to make a meaningful impact – and fans are extremely unhappy about it.

Following a goalless draw to Chippa United on 6 August and a 2-1 loss to Mamelodi Sundowns on 9 August, Chiefs sought to redeem themselves when they faced TS Galaxy at Mbombela Stadium in Mpumalanga on Sunday, 20 August.

Despite maintaining a 52% possession of the ball, Amakhosi struggled to breach Galaxy’s defences; by the same token, the Rockets’ attempts to launch the ball into the back of their opponents’ net were thwarted by goalkeeper Brandon Peterson.

Unfortunately, it was Peterson who contributed to the Glamour Boys’ downfall with an own goal in the 49th minute, when a shot from Galaxy’s Higor Vidal rebounded off the shotstopper’s head.

Ultimately, Galaxy won the match 1-0, causing enraged Chiefs supporters to direct their frustrations at Chiefs coach, Molefi Ntseki: following his post-match press conference, they pelted him with projectiles and other objects. Ntseki was then escorted off the pitch by police officers.

Nevertheless, this doesn’t take away from the fact that Kaizer Chiefs are sitting in 13th place on the PSL rankings with one measly point; as for TS Galaxy, they’re sitting pretty in third place with seven points.
