Kaizer Chiefs Win CUFA Cup Championship
Kaizer Chiefs are now your new Cultural Urban Festival Africa Cup champions after beating Marumo Gallants FC 4-3 on penalties on Sunday, 13 October!
Under the leadership of new head coach, Nasreddine Nabi, Amakhosi – keen to secure their first trophy of the 2024/25 season – took on Gallants at Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein, Free State.
For the entirety of the match, both sides prevented each other from scoring. Despite the increasing intensity of the Glamour Boys’ attack, Gallants fended them off with a combination of solid defending and effective counterattacks.
In the end, the match went directly to a penalty shootout after 90 minutes of play concluded with a goalless draw.
Fortunately for Chiefs, goalkeeper Bruce Bvuma managed to save two spot-kicks from Gallants’ Mpho Chabatsane and Xola Mlambo, leading his team to a 4-3 victory in the shootout.
Following this win, Kaizer Chiefs aim to maintain their momentum as they take on SuperSport United in the opening round of the Telkom Knockout tournament at Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane, Limpopo this Saturday, 19 October.
