Kaizer Motaung Jnr Dismisses Lanjesi Nkhoma Rumours

Sporting director Kaizer Motaung Jnr has denied rumours that Kaizer Chiefs are looking to add Malawian international, Lanjesi Nkhoma, to their ranks.

Per recent reports, Nkhoma – who plies his trade as a forward for Malawi’s national men’s team, as well as for Nyasa Big Bullets FC – has been offered a whopping R4.5 million by Amakhosi following his impressive performance in the COSAFA Cup.

“It’s a lot of money,” a source claimed during a recent interview with a local soccer outlet. “I am not sure how much it could be now … It’s actually tempting for the club though they still want to keep the youngster in the team.”

However, Motaung Jnr poured cold water over these reports with a simple tweet on Wednesday, 19 July: “Fake news again.”

Nevertheless, the 21-year-old could be a perfect fit at Naturena, especially as a potential replacement for superstar midfielder Khama Billiat, whose deal with the club expired following the conclusion of the 2022/23 season.

Chiefs were initially planning to extend Billiat’s contract, albeit with reduced wages in place. With the deal going nowhere, the 33-year-old veteran is essentially no longer bound to the Glamour Boys – could Nkhoma take his place? Watch this space for updates!
