Kanye West and Jay-Z Surprise Atlanta Audience
Kanye West is expected to drop his latest album today, Friday, 23 July, but that’s not the only surprise he has for fans.
The 44-year-old rapper had originally intended to release “DONDA” – named after his late mother, Donda West – in July last year, but for a variety of reasons it was delayed.
On Thursday night, 22 July, in front of a sold-out crowd of thousands at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia, West surprised fans with a listening party of the new material as he walked around in silence for 48 minutes.
But the biggest surprise came when Jay-Z could be heard rapping “This might be the return of the Throne” on a track at the end of the album.
Claims of a feud between the two rapping heavyweights started surfacing after Jay-Z and his wife, Beyonce, snubbed an invitation to West’s wedding to Kim Kardashian in 2014.
During an interview with Charlamagne Tha God in May 2018, the “Jesus Walks” hitmaker confided: “I was hurt about them not coming to the wedding. I understand they were going through some things, but if it’s family, you’re not going to miss a wedding.”
However, it looks like the beef is over, and the two are talking and collaborating again.
Keep an eye – and ear – out for West’s 11th album on streaming services later today.
