Kanye West Doc Series Sells for $30 Million
A documentary about Kanye West’s life that has been in the making for over two decades has been sold to Netflix.
The multi-part doc – which centres around the 43-year-old rapper and mogul – was purchased from Clarence “Coodie” Simmons and Chike Ozah by the streaming giant for approximately $30 million.
Per reports, Simmons and Ozah – who directed two of West’s early music videos, “Through the Wire” and “Jesus Walks” – have been filming him in Chicago, Illinois since the 1990s.
Their efforts include chronicling his rise to fame, his relationship with his mother, Donda, and his foray into the clothing business. The documentary will also include never-before-seen footage and home videos.
However, it is unclear if West’s marriage to, and subsequent divorce from, Kim Kardashian will be included in the final documentary.
West will not be involved in the production of the documentary, which is scheduled for release later this year.
