Klopp Bids Farewell to Liverpool
Jürgen Klopp will be stepping down from his role as manager of Liverpool when the 2023/24 season comes to an end.
The 56-year-old German’s final match with the club will be on Sunday, 19 May, as they take on Wolverhampton Wanderers at Anfield Stadium in Liverpool, England. Predictions have strongly favoured the Reds to emerge victorious.
Speaking during the pre-match press conference today, Friday 17 May, Klopp fondly looked back on his time with the English side. “A decade of your life is massive, and I will not forget a day. I was at the best club I could have imagined, in a very special city,” he said.
He went on to add: “Nothing is perfect nowadays, but the way the people meet you, the way they treat you – it’s wonderful to know I spent a big time of my life here. I got the key of the city, I’m sure for some people that is rather funny, but if the city needs me I am there. I want to be helpful in whatever way.[sic]”
Appointed manager of Liverpool in 2015, Klopp has become one of the best-known leaders of an English Premier League club in recent years.
