Leon Goretzka Sidelined With Hand Fracture

FC Bayern Munich star, Leon Goretzka, is facing time on the sidelines after suffering a hand injury.

The 28-year-old midfielder sustained a fracture during his side’s Bundesliga match against Mainz on Saturday, 21 October.

The next day, Bayern – who won the match 3-1 – tweeted out an official update on Goretzka’s condition.

“Leon Goretzka suffered a metacarpal fracture during the Bundesliga game in Mainz on Saturday. He underwent successful surgery on Sunday and will miss FC Bayern’s next games,” the tweet reads.

The injury comes as a huge blow to the German club, which is also without goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, who is rehabbing from a broken leg following a skiing accident last November. Teammates Serge Gnabry, Noussair Mazraoui, Raphael Guerreiro and Dayot Upamecano are also out with injuries.

Bayern Munich are set to take on Galatasaray S.K. tonight, Tuesday 24 October, in a UEFA Champions League clash at Rams Park in Istanbul, Turkey – here’s hoping what remains of Thomas Tuchel’s men will soldier on to victory!
