Liam Payne Laid to Rest in Private Funeral
Former One Direction singer, Liam Payne, has finally been laid to rest more than a month after his death.
On 16 October, Payne died after falling from the third floor of his hotel room, landing in the courtyard of the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
On Wednesday, 20 November, a private funeral for the 31-year-old “Live Forever” hitmaker was held at St Mary’s Church in Amersham, England. Mournful fans and locals outside the church watched as Payne’s family and friends arrived for the service.
Among those in attendance were Payne’s girlfriend, Kate Cassidy; ex-girlfriend Cheryl Cole, with whom he shares a seven-year-old son, Bear; former One Direction bandmates Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson; and music mogul Simon Cowell, who co-founded the boy band.
Many of the guests were seen talking to Payne’s parents, Geoff and Karen, and his older sisters Ruth and Nicola.
Meanwhile, three people were charged in Argentina earlier this month following an investigation into Payne’s death. They were criminally charged “with the crimes of abandonment of a person after death”, as well as for the “supply and facilitation of narcotics” to the singer.
