Lucas Radebe Appointed Club Ambassador at Leeds

South African legend Lucas Radebe has landed a prominent role at his former club, Leeds United.

On Saturday, 27 September, the English outfit announced in a statement via their website that 56-year-old Radebe – who played for them from 1994 to 2005 – had been officially named as a club ambassador.

“Lucas is a focal point for award-winning educational schemes and anti-racism campaigns, and his dedication to supporting the Leeds community on numerous important topics has been astounding, demonstrated through the many awards he has received,” the statement reads.

Radebe began his senior footballing career in 1989 when he joined Kaizer Chiefs, for whom he scored five goals in 113 appearances.

In 1994, he signed with Leeds, whom he later captained during the Whites’ 1999/2000 campaign. He scored a total of three goals in 262 appearances prior to his retirement in 2005.

Radebe also played for the South African national soccer team from 1992 to 2003, earning 70 caps and scoring two goals.

Congratulations to Radebe on his new role! We’re confident that he will represent Leeds with pride and dignity.
