Luke Shaw Slammed for Man United Defeat
Manchester United fans are currently unimpressed with their defender, Luke Shaw, who had a hand in their 99th-minute 1-0 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion on Thursday night, 4 May.
Both teams spurned great opportunities in the first half of the match at Falmer Stadium in Brighton and Hove, England and pundits were left wondering how there were no goals by the half-time whistle.
However, the game began to pick up in the final minutes of the match during overtime, as Shaw blocked an attempt to score by Brighton’s Julio Enciso with his hand. The hosts were awarded a penalty kick in return, which midfielder Alexis Mac Allister took full advantage of, scoring the only goal of the match.
During the post-match interview, Shaw reflected on the proceedings. “It hurts a lot,” he said.
“Of course, I own up to it and take it on the chin. It cost us the game and it is tough. I cannot even explain why my hand is up there. I got a touch but my hand should still not be up there,” Shaw added.
The Red Devils will have a chance to redeem themselves on Sunday, 7 May, when they take on West Ham United at London Stadium in England.
